Max's Sports Lounge was established in 1978, making it the Glendale Area's first sports bar.
After a complete renovation and remodel in 2002, Max's Sports Restaurant &
Simulcast Wagering Center, now stands proudly where its roots first took hold.
As the Valley's preeminent sports bar, Max's features over 90 television
screens located throughout the facility, including the patio, and broadcasts
almost every major sporting event for fans to watch follow their favorite
teams. One of the things Max's is famous for, besides the HUGE helmet
collection, is the Jocko Bird. The Jocko Bird is the mascot of the bar created
by the original owner, Max Beyer, who will greet you right inside the entrance.
The kitchen and restaurant have made items like the 16 oz. Choice Ribeye steak,
and their famous 1/2 lbs. burgers and sandwiches into fan favorites. From
tempting homemade soups to mouth-watering desserts, Max's menu has something to
suit every taste. Be sure to enjoy the homemade potato chips with some
chipotle-ranch sauce as well as the pork tenderloin sandwich, which are two of
the delicious house specialties at Max's.
For the betting fan, Max's offers a newly designed Simulcast Wagering Center
that closely resembles the high rolling style of "Vegas" racebooks. The
wagering center features 2 big screen TV's, twelve 27" TV's and 28 private
betting carrels equipped with personal color TV monitors. Both thoroughbred and
greyhound races are simulcast daily from around the country and available for
wagering.
